A segunda edição do Women’s Music Event reuniu cerca de 6 mil pessoas durante sua programação que incluiu palestras, workshops e shows.

Fui convidada a fazer a mediação da mesa com o tema “A Magia (e o Sofrimento) por trás do nascimento de um álbum. Afinal, por que insistir no formato?” que contou com a participação de Aíla, Alice Caymmi, Assucena Assucena e Raquel Virgínia (das Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira) e Nina Becker.

E foi unânime – todas seguem fazendo álbuns hoje em dia pois acreditam que essa ainda é a melhor forma de se contar uma história. Ao mesmo tempo, seguem atentas aos novos formatos que dialogam com um público mais amplo.

Assucena e Raquel falaram dos Lyric Videos que produziram para seu mais recente álbum e de como curtiram o processo criativo. Todas concordaram que a imagem exerce um poder gigante sobre o público hoje em dia – Alice lembrou que seu single em parceria com Pabbllo Vittar só ganhou atenção depois do lançamento do video. Ela alertou ainda para o tamanho do investimento quando se fala em produção de videoclipes.

Todas concordaram que a dinâmica de consumo de música nos dias de hoje exige mais velocidade, e cada uma dialoga com essa realidade de uma forma diferente. Ao final, o público participou levantando algumas questões como estratégias de comunicação que funcionam mais, bloqueio criativo e a libertação de fórmulas para evoluir artisticamente.

The second edition of the Women’s Music Event gathered together over 6 thousand people during its pannels, workshops and concerts. I was invited to do the mediation of the talk “The magic (and suffering) behind the birth of an album. After all, is it still worth insisting in this format?” with Aíla, Alice Caymmi, Assucena Assucena and Raquel Virgínia (from As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira) and Nina Becker.

And it was unanimous – all of them still do albuns nowadays because they believe this is still the best way to tell a story. At the same time, they are aware of the new formats that dialogue with a wider audience.

Assucena and Raquel spoke about the Lyric Videos they have produced for their most recent album and how they enjoyed its creative process. All of them agreed that image has a gigantic power over people nowadays – Alice mentioned her latest single with Pabbllo Vittar which got only noticed after the video was put out. And reminded we all that the costs for producing a video are still very high in Brazil.

They all agreed that the dynamic of music consumption nowadays requires a higher speed, and each artist dialogues with this reality in a different way. In the end, the audience participated with some questions about communication strategies, creative block and the freedom from “miraculous formulas” to evolve artistically.
